The Thermo Scientific™ SureTect™ Salmonella species assay is a real-time PCR test for the detection of the presence of Salmonella in a wide variety of matrices, last year it was awarded Performance Tested Method^SM status by the AOAC Research Institute, now the Journal of AOAC International has published the evaluation data.

The study was conducted using the AOAC RI Performance Tested Methods program to validate the SureTect Salmonella species assay in comparison to the reference method detailed in ISO 6579:2002 with a variety of food matrices.

The SureTect System was developed to detect microorganisms quickly and accurately in a broad range of foods and associated samples with the following benefits:

• Pre-filled lysis tubes and tableted PCR reagents minimize the number of pipetting steps and hands-on time
• Only one single enrichment step is needed for key food matrices with straightforward sample lysis completed in less than 20 minutes
• Common PCR protocols mean multiple assays can be processed in the same run
