Air Monitoring to Detect Virus Presence

The presence of viruses in the air can be detected with the new sampler AIRBIO ONE RAPID-VIRUS from the Italian ORUM International Company in combination with rapid methods such as Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR), genetic sequencing, immunoassay, microarrays, and mass spectrometry (MS).

As virus variants evolve, laboratory methods are evolving to identify new variants present in the environment. One of the new methods for unknown or novel threats is genetic sequencing (adaptive nanopore sequencing).

The virus SARS-CoV-2 COVID is in continuous evolution and mutation to maintain itself in the homo sapiens population. A large amount of the population in Europe and other Continents are still not vaccinated, and therefore, the spread of viruses via aerosol is increasing.

The monitoring of air to detect the presence of viruses in the air in hospital wards, workspaces, and public buildings, is requested by health authorities.
