bioMérieux Acquires Ceeram


On January 22nd, 2015, bioMérieux announced the acquisition of CEERAM (European Centre for Expertise and Research on Microbial Agents), an innovative molecular virology laboratory specialized in the detection of foodborne and environmental viruses.

CEERAM molecular virus detection kits (ceeramTools®) will expand bioMérieux’s food testing solutions portfolio which already includes easyMAG® and miniMAG® DNA/RNA extraction platforms. These bioMérieux nucleic acid extraction systems were already recommended by CEERAM company to e!ciently prepare the samples prior to their molecular analysis solutions.

CEERAM’s expertise in foodborne virus detection and its ceeramTools® molecular detection line, consolidate bioMérieux’s position as a pioneer in industrial applications. It will expand the already broad range of bioMérieux agri-food diagnostic solutions and enable us to enter the market for food related molecular virology tests that serve the agri-food industries, foodborne viruses being responsible for most of foodborne infections.
