Shimadzu Diagnostics Corporation is pleased to announce the launch of our new product, CompactDry™ CFR.

• CompactDry™ is a long shelf life at 1- 30°C, ready-to-use dehydrated media system for microbiological testing of food and water.
• CompactDry™ CFR is a CompactDry™ medium for the rapid detection of coliforms, developed especially for dairy products.

Using CompactDry™ CFR, coliforms can be detected as blue-white fluorescence under 365nm ultraviolet (UV) light after 6 hours incubation at the earliest. Additionally, coliform negative results or coliform count results can be obtained by counting blue/blue-green colored colonies after 16-18 hours of incubation.

Rapid detection of coliform positive result - earlier detection of abnormality

By using CompactDry™ CFR at the beginning of a working hours, coliform positive results can be obtained by the end of the working day at the earliest. For example, 8:00 a.m. sample collected, 9:00 a.m. start incubation, 3:00-5:00 p.m. coliform positive results (after 6-8 hours incubation).

Rapid confirmation of coliform negative results - earlier shipment of the products

By using CompactDry™ CFR at the end of the working day, coliform negative results can be obtained at the beginning of working hours on the next day. For example, 4:00 p.m. sample collected, 5:00 p.m. start incubation, 9:00 a.m. coliform negative results (after 16 hours incubation).

CompactDry™ CFR for the enumeration of coliforms after 16-18 hours of incubation has gained MicroVal certification for raw milk and dairy products, heat processed milk, and dairy products (Certificate no: 2023LR123). This product has been validated in accordance with EN ISO 16140-2:2016 and revealed to be equivalent to the reference method, ISO 4832:2006.
