Preliminary Program for IAFP 2016 Released


The International Association for Food Protection has set the Preliminary Program for IAFP 2016 – the Association’s Annual Meeting, July 31 – August 3 in St. Louis, Missouri. The meeting has earned recognition as the leading food safety conference. The meeting begins Sunday evening, July 31, with the Opening Session featuring the Ivan Parkin Lecture, followed by the Cheese and Wine Reception held in the Exhibit Hall. This year’s honored lecturer is Jeffrey Farber, Ph.D., University of Guelph, Ontario, Canada.

Monday morning starts three days of sessions with more than 1,000 presentations including 76 symposia, 13 roundtable sessions, 140 technical presentations, and 580 poster presentations. A sample of symposia topics include:

  • 2016 Foodborne Outbreak Updates;
  • Balancing Risks and Benefits in Food Safety;
  • Campylobacter: Can We Solve the Problem?;
  • and Raw Milk Discussion – An Amicable Exchange of Experts.

The Annual John H. Silliker Lecture will be presented on Wednesday afternoon, featuring Renata Clarke, Ph.D., Head of the Food Safety and Quality Unit for the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations in Rome, Italy. For additional educational opportunities, IAFP 2016 will present five Pre-Meeting Workshops on July 29 and July 30.

Attendance is expected to exceed 3,000 of the top industry, academic and government food safety professionals. This broad mix of attendees includes professionals in quality control, processing operations, regulatory inspections, food safety consulting, risk assessment, research and development, microbiological research, plant management, technical services, and HACCP management.
