Source Bioscience Meet Demand with Investment in Ireland

Source BioScience (SBS) have invested €585,000 into microbiology and sterility testing labs at their stability storage facility in Tramore, Co Waterford. This investment is the first installment in BioScience’s expansion at the Tramore facility, which when completed will see them increase the capacity at the facility by 40%.

SBS's investment in the microbiology and sterility testing labs will provide a comprehensive suite of services to its customers with the aim of providing faster turnaround times,

SBS Irish Account Manager, Brian Monaghan spoke to rapidmicrobology.com about the reasons for the expansion, “We have Customers who we send samples away for [to have] microbial growth and sterility testing and decided that this could be done in-house to provide a faster turnaround, So the microbiology labs are built and validated, as of last year, and now awaiting accreditation which should be in the next few weeks. This will mean our Clients can release their products faster and it will reduce costs on distribution too. Also, as part of the future expansion, there are a couple of units attached to this building which we will purchase to add to our storage capacity”

SBS offer a comprehensive portfolio of stability storage options, delivering 24/7 outsourced controlled environment storage for stability trials at all World Climatic ICH conditions, as well as bespoke conditions. SBS also offer quality and compliance, photostability, microbiology, and sterility testing with validation and service support at their facility at Tramore.

The storage facility at Tramore was originally opened by Vindon Ireland until a takeover by SBS in 2013. Since then its state-of-the-art storage stability facility, genomics, and shelf-life testing services have expanded significantly.

In recent weeks it was announced that SBS have been shortlisted for the upcoming 2019 Pharma Awards under the ‘Pharma Contract Services Company of the Year” category. SBS are also sponsoring the ‘Corporate Social Responsibility’ award on the night.

The company who have recently rebranded themselves as Source Stability Storage Solutions have their headquarters in Nottingham, UK. As of September 2016, they were delisted from the London Stock Exchange and was acquired through a public to private partnership with Harwood Capital LLP and Continental Investment partners.
