Esco' Labculture® Class II Type B2 Biosafety Cabinet Completes NSF Testing
go back to news archivesEsco's Labculture® Class II Type B2 Biosafety cabinet (LB2-4B2 model) has been tested as fully compliant to the requirements of the US Standard NSF49 for Class II (laminar flow) biosafety cabinetry. Total of 20 stringent performance tests were conducted by NSF International in USA, which included a full set of microbiological performance tests with bacterial spore samples, airflow tests, rigorous construction and design evaluation tests and others described in NSF/ANSI 49-2004 standard. The listing on the NSF website is pending.
The LB2 models are pending certification to the UL 61010A-1 (Underwriters Laboratories, Inc) safety requirements for "Electrical Equipment for Laboratory Use", for USA (UL) and for Canada (UL-C). UL certification is a pre-requisite for NSF49 certification.
Launched in the first quarter of 2005, Esco's Labculture® Class II Type B2 biosafety cabinet features many unique, state-of-the-art developments which include superior ULPA filters with >99.999% efficiency, a microprocessor-based control system, BioCote® anti-microbial powder-coated body and laminated shatter-proof safety glass. Incorporating a non-circulating total exhaust design, the cabinet provides ISO Class 3 cleanliness within workzone to protect the operator, product and environment from biohazardous aerosols.
Esco is now 1 of 11 biosafety cabinet manufacturers in the world to be certified to the stringent NSF49 standard, and one of few to have products certified to both NSF49 and EN12469 standards.
