Automated Etest® Reading for Vancomycin
go back to news archives The BIOMIC V3 Microbiology System now completely automates the reading and interpretation of Etests (bioMerieux) including Vancomycin. Etests are automatically located, read, and interpreted on plates ranging from 90-150mm. Plates may contain only Etests or a combination of antibiotic disks and Etests. An enlarged plate image on-screen displays the MIC value and S-I-R interpretation. Results are confirmed and printed or transferred via LIS/LIMS. High resolution color Etest images are saved for future review. Automated Etest QC reading and recording is also included. BIOMIC V3's advanced color digital imaging technology automates the reading, interpretation, and reporting of antibiotic disk tests following CLSI, BSAC, and EUCAST guidelines. Additional features include reading and interpreting of identification panels including API® (bioMerieux), RapIDTM (Remel), CrystalTM (BD), chromogenic agar and colony count test plates. Bar code reading and a bi-directional LIS/LIMS interface further speeds testing workflow. BIOMIC V3 serves as a primary or secondary AST-ID system for microbiology laboratories. |
