The traditional "flaming" of loops and needles in a Bunsen burner flame can be quite hazardous with the open flame creating aerosols and having the potential to ignite flammable materials in the lab.

The "Bacteria-Safe", produced by International pbi, is specially developed to sterilize loops, needles and test tube mouths. Operation is safer because, there is no open flame or hazardous gas. Incineration of organic material occurs in an inner funnel tube which prevents splatter or cross-contamination.

Since no oxygen is required, the sterilizer is ideal for use in anaerobic chambers.

Sterilization time is approximately five seconds. Several holes are provided on the side of the "Bacteria Safe" for loop handle storage.
