MicroBioLogics, Inc. Receives ISO Guide 34 Accreditation

MicroBioLogics, Inc. have been granted accreditation to ISO Guide 34:2000 General Requirements for the Competence of Reference Material Producers by The American Association for Laboratory Accreditation (A2LA). MicroBioLogics produces biological reference materials for quality control laboratories around the world.

The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) is recognized across the globe as the leader in the development of standards. The ISO Guide 34:2000 standard is widely viewed as the pinnacle for manufacturer accreditation; it certifies the competence of a manufacturer as a Reference Material Producer. Methods used to produce Certified Reference Material are evaluated and validated to be proven acceptable.

To achieve ISO Guide 34, MicroBioLogics was evaluated by A2LA, a private non-profit membership society that provides accrediting services. A2LA evaluated methods used to test the identity, viability and purity of the microbial reference cultures produced by MicroBioLogics. After successfully completing the evaluation process, MicroBioLogics is now an officially recognized Reference Material Producer.

MicroBioLogics CEO, Robert Coborn, stated, 'Receiving ISO Guide 34 accreditation is an honor and a testament to the quality of MicroBioLogics products. We make every effort to continuously improve our Quality Management System, and this provides further evidence of that commitment. Now, MicroBioLogics can provide customers with authentic Certified Reference Materials.'

Coborn continues, 'We feel strongly that globally accepted manufacturing standards are essential to the health and safety of the world's consumers.' In March 2008, MicroBioLogics announced their accreditation in accordance with ISO/IEC 17025:2005, a standard that accesses the technical competence of laboratories. Additionally, MicroBioLogics has been ISO 9001:2000 Certified since 2001.
