Four New MicroVal Certificates Granted for Compact Dry

Last year the first MicroVal certificate was granted for Compact Dry Total Count. Compact Dry plates are ready-to-use dry media sheets made up of culture media and a cold soluble gelling agent, rehydrated by inoculating 1 ml diluted sample into the centre of the self-diffusable medium.

Now NEN, the MicroVal secretariat have granted four new MicroVal certificates, the following validations according to EN ISO 16140 have been approved:

  • Compact Dry ETB for enumeration of Enterobacteriaceae

  • Compact Dry CF for enumeration of Coliforms

  • Compact Dry EC for enumeration of Coliforms

  • Compact Dry EC for enumeration of E.coli

The next 6 MicroVal validations are being performed; 3 validations are in progress with the MicroVal Expert Laboratory CCFRA (UK) and 3 by MicroVal Expert Laboratory RIKILT, Institute of Food Safety (WUR) (NL). Another two contracts are nearly closing and discussions are in progress with several other manufacturers.
