New Fluorescence and Staining Technologies (F.A.S.T.™) Tuberculosis Products
go back to news archives QBC Diagnostics have introduced a new line of Fluorescence and Staining Technologies (F.A.S.T.™) tuberculosis products. Based on a modified Auramine O Stain, F.A.S.T. products can stain a TB sputum smear for review in less than 3 minutes, compared to an average of 20 minutes with conventional fluorescence stains. Due to its unique design, F.A.S.T. Auramine O Stain also results in brighter TB bacilli with less background fluorescence than standard stains. Craig Stout, General Manager and Vice President said, 'The revolutionary F.A.S.T. TB products represent a significant advancement in diagnostic tools to assist in the DOTS goal of 70% smear-positive detection and a positive step toward the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals (MDG) established by the Stop TB Strategy.' The F.A.S.T. TB products can be purchased in a variety of different configurations, including the addition of the Paralens™ Microscope Attachment that allows epi-fluorescence capability using a standard light microscope. Prepackaged kits include a F.A.S.T. Smear kit with supplies for 400 tests, a F.A.S.T. Smear kit with digestion solution for labs performing culture or PCR, and the F.A.S.T. E-Z Smear kit that includes stain, slides, and pipettes, and has been designed for portability. |
