New 8 Hour Enrichment for Assurance GDS® Salmonella

BioControl Systems, Inc., has developed a new enrichment protocol for the detection of Salmonella. Assurance GDS® (Genetic Detection System) combines the latest advancements in molecular technology and food microbiology to provide accurate Salmonella results faster than ever before.

8 hour mEHEC® enrichment protocol

The new 8 hour mEHEC® enrichment protocol allows customers to obtain results in select assays in just 10 hours, including sample processing. 'With the new mEHEC enrichment Assurance GDS for Salmonella now provides customers the speed and efficiency they have been asking for', explained Anita Kressner, VP Global Sales and Marketing.

mEHEC media has previously been validated for use with BioControl's E.coli O157:H7 and Top STEC assays. Now producers can also obtain Salmonella results in addition to E. coli O157:H7 and Top STEC from a single enriched sample. The use of a harmonized enrichment media for these assays helps streamline testing programs and control costs by eliminating the need to prepare multiple samples. The ability to quickly test and release product, particularly in the beef and fresh produce industries, can have a significant financial impact on an organization's bottom line.

In addition to Salmonella, the Assurance GDS platform includes assays for E coli O157:H7, Shiga Toxin Genes, Top STEC, Listeria spp., Listeria monocytogenes, and Cronobacter.
