AFNOR Certification for Assurance GDS™ 20h Salmonella Test
go back to news archives BioControl Systems', Assurance GDS™ for Salmonella, has received AFNOR Certification for the detection of Salmonella in all human foods, animal feed stuffs, and environmental samples. Assurance GDS for Salmonella is a DNA-based detection method capable of providing Salmonella results in as few as 20 hours. With increasing emphasis being placed on process control as a means of improving operational efficiency and food safety, fast and accurate Salmonella detection methods validated for both food and environmental samples can offer food processors a significant advantage. Assurance GDS for Salmonella incorporates multiple layers of specificity including Immunomagnetic separation (IMS), highly specific primers, and a patented probe system to provide improved accuracy over other methods. The innovative IMS-based sample preparation and these multiple levels of specificity enable Assurance GDS to overcome matrix interference and cross reactivity issues that are common to other antibody or genetic based systems. Completing the system is the Assurance GDS Rotor-Gene, an innovative multi-channel rotary cycler for the amplification and detection of the target. The Assurance GDS Rotor-Gene can read multiple, distinct targets thereby eliminating the need for melt curves, which can be difficult and time consuming to interpret. In addition to Salmonella, the Assurance GDS platform includes assays for E coli O157:H7, Shiga Toxin Genes, Listeria spp., Listeria monocytogenes, and Enterobacter sakazakii. |
