Pall Presentation and Workshop on qPCR at A3P's 9th Microbiology Meeting

qPCR rapid quality control
A3P's 9th Microbiology Meeting,
France, April 2010

Make sure to attend A3P's forthcoming '9th Microbiology Meeting' event in Tours, France, where Dr. Patrice Chablain (R&D Manager) will give a presentation on 'Novel qPCR Technology As a Rapid Tool for Microbial Detection', with Rapid Microbiology specialist Catherine Piton also hosting an interactive workshop entitled 'Using a Novel qPCR Platform To Accelerate Pharmaceutical Microbiology Testing'.

Dr. Chablain´s presentation will offer a concise overview of qPCR, and focus on specific pharmaceutical industry requirements for microbiological quality control testing. He will describe Pall´s GeneDisc qPCR platform (successfully adopted in other industries), which has been developed to meet these requirements. Multiplex qPCR data will also be presented for specific microorganisms that are routinely tested for as part of pharmaceutical microbiology quality control.

The interactive workshop will demonstrate the GeneDisc platform, enabling attendees the opportunity to see the products and technology, and also to discuss applications relevant to routine pharmaceutical microbiology with our experts.

Microbiological quality control testing in the biopharmaceutical industry includes several applications well-suited to qPCR but these requirements have not been served well by previous qPCR platforms. Pall's GeneDisc technology is changing this by providing a unique, highly simplified and controlled method well suited to these requirements. The technology offers:
  • Same-day data, minimizing the need to operate manufacturing processes at risk

  • Organism-specific quantification of microbial contaminants, ensuring accurate and precise results

  • Highly reproducible data based on a novel 'consumable and instrument' design

  • Minimal operator-attended steps, thus minimizing errors and maximizing ease of use and consistency
