Salmonella Detection in Food

The revised ISO 6579 method for detection of Salmonella

The horizontal method for the detection of Salmonella spp. in food and animal feeding stuffs ISO 6579 1993 has been dramatically revised as Figure 1 shows.

One of the changes includes the replacement of Selenite Cystine Broth by a new Muller Kaufmann Tetrathionate Broth formulation with Novobiocin.

This new Muller Kaufmann Tetrathionate Broth is unique as the selective components are included in the base media and it's granulated so easy to prepare!

  • no dust
  • no more sticking
  • quick dissolving
  • no preparation of the supplement
  • no additions to the prepared basal medium
