Thermo Scientific Brilliance MRSA Agar is Ideal for MRSA Screening
go back to news archives | Thermo Scientific is supplying Brilliance™ MRSA Agar to hospital laboratories worldwide, as an ideal solution to the problem of MRSA screening. Thermo Scientific Brilliance MRSA Agar is a selective chromogenic medium that permits primary growth, selectivity and differentiation of MRSA colonies on a single plate (see photograph). Brilliance MRSA Agar is both fast and reliable and, unlike other rapid methods such as PCR, it requires no capital outlay and is accessible to every hospital laboratory. Brilliance MRSA Agar is already being used by many microbiology laboratories, including all three sites in the year-long pilot screening programme currently running in Scotland; NHS Ayrshire & Arran, NHS Grampian and NHS Western Isles. Trials began in April 2008 and are backed by £7 million of government investment in 2008-09. |
