ATCC Introduces the Vancomycin Resistant Enterococci (VRE) Panel

ATCC Microbial Panels are ATCC Genuine Cultures® grouped together based on their utility in infectious disease research applications. The ATCC Vancomycin-Resistant Enterococci Panel (ATCC® MP-1™) contains both positive and negative controls from a variety of the most frequently found vancomycin-resistant, intermediate and sensitive Enterococcus species in clinical and environmental settings.

It is comprised of:

    • Recent clinical isolates as well as a nutritionally-dependent vancomycin resistant Enterococci (VRE)
    • A variety of Enterococcus strains representing the vanA, vanB and vanC genotypes

  • Four strains confirmed to lack any vancomycin resistance to serve as negative controls

This unique collection is useful for building and testing new methods to detect VREs in clinical and environmental settings. Both molecular and antimicrobial susceptibility testing have been performed by ATCC.
