Shimadzu Diagnostics Corporation is pleased to announce the launch of our new product, FS Finder SL - Salmonella spp. Gene Detection Kit for Food Safety—the first product in the FS Finder series. FS Finder is a real-time PCR kit that applies Shimadzu Corporation's Ampdirect^® technology and detects food poisoning bacteria in food and the environment easily, quickly, and accurately.

What is Ampdirect^®
Large amounts of substances inhibit enzyme reactions in the blood and tissues of animals and plants. Therefore, to analyze DNA using PCR, etc., it is necessary to purify the DNA from the sample. Ampdirect (PCR buffer) can suppress the effects of PCR inhibitors contained in samples, making it possible to perform PCR without purifying DNA from various samples, including blood, animal and plant tissues, SDS, etc.

Features & Measurement Principle of FS Finder SL

1. One-step real-time PCR (probe detection method) can be used to specifically detect Salmonella species in enrichment culture for food and environmental specimens.
2. It uses Ampdirect^® technology and requires no special pretreatment reagents, so simple and rapid screening for Salmonella species can be performed cheaply.
3. Includes an internal control (I.C.) as a countermeasure against false negatives. It is possible to confirm whether each tube's PCR reaction has occurred commonly. 
4. Employs UNG (Uracyl-N-Glycosidase) as a countermeasure against false positives due to carryover contamination.

Shimadzu Diagnostics Corporation plans to launch FS Finder kits for other food poisoning bacteria sequentially.
