GIPSA Approves Quantitative Test for 0.5 to 5 ppm DON

Charm Sciences, Inc.have announced that USDA-GIPSA (Grain Inspection, Packers & Stockyards Administration) has approved Charm’s ROSA DONQ2 Quantitative Test for the detection of 0.5 to 5 ppm DON (vomitoxin) in feed and grain.

The ROSA DONQ2 Quantitative Test uses the Charm® Rapid One Step Assay (ROSA) lateral flow technology to quantitate DON in a simple, 2 minute assay using water as the extraction solvent. “This has been a tough year for several states experiencing high levels of DON” said Mark Tess, Ph.D., Mycotoxin Product Manager for Charm Sciences. “Having a 2 minute test helps provide operational efficiency to our customers.“

The test kit passed for both Charm’s ROSA-M Reader and the Charm EZ-M® system. The all-in-one Charm EZ-M system identifies the appropriate mycotoxin test using color-coded strips then reads and displays the quantitative test results; test data is stored on an SD card for reporting and analysis.

The ROSA DONQ2 Quantitative Test is approved for the following 26 commodities: Barley, Brewer’s Rice, Buckwheat, Corn, Corn Bran, Corn Germ Meal, Corn Gluten Feed, Corn Gluten Meal, Distillers Dried Grain with Solubles, Hominy, Malted Barley, Milled Rice, Oats, Rapeseed Meal, Rice Bran, Rough Rice, Rye, Sorghum, Soybean Meal, Triticale, Wheat, Wheat Bran, Wheat Flour, Wheat Midds, Wheat Red Dog, and Wheat Screening. In addition to the DONQ2 Quantitative Test, Charm manufactures a variety of ROSA tests to detect mycotoxins (aflatoxin, DON/vomitoxin, fumonisin, ochratoxin, T2/HT2, and zearalenone) in feed and grain.
