Real-Time PCR and Chromogenic Media to Detect Campylobacter in Food 


Bio-Rad offers a complete solution to detect Campylobacter in food samples.

  • Based on real-time PCR, iQ-Check Campylobacter is a simple and rapid qualitative test suitable for the detection of Campylobacter jejuni, Campylobacter coli, and Campylobacter lari in food, carcasses rinses or sponges, and feces. Due to the sensitivity and specificity of PCR, results can be obtained in as little as 24 hr after enrichment in a selective medium.

It is designed as a multiplex reaction that includes an internal inhibition control that is amplified in parallel with the target DNA for a reliable result.

Developed as an open and flexible system, the iQ-Check Campylobacter Kit can be used for up to 94 samples. Reactions can be run on low- or high-throughput Bio-Rad instruments, depending on the laboratory’s needs. Different iQ-Check assays can be run in parallel on the same plate.  iQ-Check Campylobacter is validated by AOAC Research Institute.

  • RAPID’Campylobacter Agar is a selective chromogenic media for the detection and the enumeration of the main species of thermophilic Campylobacter (C. jejuni, C. coli and C. lari) in food products and environmental samples. The use of a selected nutritive mixture associated with reducing agent allows the growth of Campylobacter spp. in an optimal time. Other bacterial species, as well as yeasts and molds, are inhibited by the selective agents. The RAPID’Campylobacter method has been certified by NF Validation.
