Aerobiology Laboratory Starts Real-Time qPCR Testing for Legionella


Aerobiology Laboratory Assoc., Inc. now has the capability to begin Legionella testing using the qPCR method, this is a new service that allows a rapid molecular method used to detect and quantitate Legionella pneumophila and Legionella species in potable and non-potable water.

Aerobiology Laboratory in Atlanta, GA will begin accepting qPCR samples immediately. Real-time qPCR testing will be a strategic addition to the Aerobiology Laboratory and will allow them to provide more comprehensive service offerings for customers.

Suzanne Blevins stated that "Aerobiology is excited to offer additional Legionella testing capabilities for our customers. qPCR is a valuable time-sensitive tool for screening negative waters for Legionella, especially when used in conjunction with culture methods as outlined in the ASHRAE Guideline 12-2000R."
