Colilert-18: Rapid, Accurate and ISO-accredited Standard
Colilert^®-18, from IDEXX, has been trusted by water utilities worldwide for more than two decades for the detection of coliforms and E. coli in drinking water, sewage, raw water and bio solids. In 2012, the Colilert-18/Quanti-Tray^® method became the ISO standard 9308-2.

Advantages of Colilert-18 over traditional membrane filtration methods include:

• Efficiency: samples can be processed in one minute with no media preparation
• Speed: conclusive and confirmed results are available in 18 hours
• Specificity and Sensitivity: Colilert-18 suppresses the growth of non-target organisms while facilitating the growth of target species, making the test very specific and also highly sensitive. A single viable coliform or E. coli per 100 ml sample can be detected.

IDEXX Tecta^® System: Flexible Testing
The IDEXX Tecta^® system is a complete, self-contained water testing system, providing rapid evidence of bacterial contamination, within or even outside the confines of a traditional laboratory setting.

The system features the option to run up to 4 or 16 analyses simultaneously, providing fully automated incubation and test interpretation. Results are automatically sent by email, eliminating the need for testing to be restricted by working around shift patterns. Positive results can be available in as little as 2-4 hours, subject to the level of contamination, with negative results confirmed in 18-24 hours. Automated detection is unaffected by the colour and turbidity of the sample.

The instrument has a wide detection range from <1 to 10⁸ colony forming units per 100 ml. Samples can be run undiluted and can originate from a variety of water matrices including biosolids.
