Condalab is Your Ally For The Analysis of Resistant Microorganisms
The COVID-19 pandemic has drawn attention to urgent public health issues, such as antimicrobial resistance. This concern is rapidly becoming the next global challenge, given the risk associated with the effectiveness loss of APIs when treating infections.
The difficulty of this resistance lies in the fact these infections are very complicated and often impossible to treat.
Every year in the U.S. alone, 2.8 million people and 670,000 in the E.U. suffer from an antibiotic-resistant infection. Deaths are estimated at 35,000 and 33,000, respectively. In these cases, the early detection of these resistances is essential to address the treatment and ensure its effectiveness.
The antibiogram, the most widely used method, allows for predicting the behavior of certain bacteria to a group of antimicrobials. Likewise, some culture media allows us to know whether a bacteria presents a resistance mechanism or not.
If you want to learn more about the products we have available at Condalab for antimicrobial-resistant microorganisms analysis, feel free to download our material:
- CondaChrome® Antimicrobial Resistance Series: chromogenic culture media for the detection in a culture of the most common resistances (MRSA, VRE, KPC...)
- Condalab culture media: both in dehydrated and ready-to-use form, our culture media are high-quality and easy-to-read
- Antibiotic discs: reagents in discs, which allow determining the minimum inhibitory concentration of the different antibiotics for conducting antibiograms
