Establishing Limit of Detection with Quantified ATCC Strains and Nucleic Acids
The performance of culture- and molecular-based assays is often evaluated through the examination of sensitivity, specificity, and limit of detection (LOD). Depending on the assay, LOD is the minimum amount of target microorganisms or genome copies that can be reliably detected under optimal conditions. Accurate determination of LOD relies on the use of authenticated microbial or molecular controls with known concentrations.
For this reason, ATCC has expanded its portfolio of products and services to include:
- Quantified microorganisms
- Native nucleic acids with known concentration
- Synthetic nucleic acids with calculated genome copy number
- Extraction and quantification services
These products are produced under ISO 9001:2008 certified and ISO/IEC 17025:2005 accredited processes, and are quantified using verified methods, so you can trust the accuracy of your results.
