NCIMB Offers cGMP Compliant Fungal Identification Service

Fungi can cause serious issues in pharmaceutical or food & drink manufacturing environments, but identification of isolates can sometimes be challenging. Our standard identification service for yeasts and moulds is cGMP compliant and based on the use of the MicroSeq validated fungal database.

This is a genotypic approach to identification – in other words, it is based on sequencing a section of the organism’s DNA. We have chosen this method for our fungal identification service because we believe it is the most accurate and reliable approach available for the routine identification of environmental isolates. Ultimately it is the DNA sequence that defines the species, and therefore a genotypic approach has the potential to offer an unambiguous identification.

We can also undertake wider searches using other non-validated resources if required.
